Geisha are Japanese women who entertain through performing the ancient traditions of art, dance, and singing, and are distinctively characterized by their wearing of kimono and oshiroi makeup. The color, pattern, and style of kimono is dependent on the season and the event the geisha is attending. A traditional kimono can take from two to three years to complete, due to the elaborate painting and embroidering.
